During the 1960s era, following the separation of Malaysia and Singapore, witnessed the brilliance of Chandran Muthuveeran and Abdullah Noordin steering Selangor to add nine more championships to the team’s trophy cabinet. The inaugural edition of the club-level Asian competition introduced in 1967 also saw Selangor, representing Malaysia, advance to the final before succumbing to representatives from Israel, Hapoel Tel Aviv.
