The momentum of clinching the 2015 Malaysian Cup championship was not sustained by the Red Giants until DYTM Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, took over the leadership of FAS in 2018 as part of the transformation efforts to restore the glory of Selangor football. The restructuring of the state football organization, with a clear separation between the FA (Association) and FC (Club), was fully implemented in 2021. The FA was given specific responsibilities for the overall development of football in the state, while the FC took charge of the professional-level Selangor football teams.
