Match Preview R16-1 | PDRM FC vs Selangor FC | Focused and Ready for Malaysia Cup

The Selangor FC squad kicks off the Malaysia Cup 2023 season as the visiting team, taking on PDRM FC in the first match of the 16th round tomorrow (3 August) at 9 p.m. at the MBPJ Stadium.

This season's Malaysia Cup tournament experiences a format change, with all teams beginning the challenge in the round of 16 rather than the group stage like before. The Super League's 14 clubs and the M3 League's top two teams will participate in a round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final, and final (one match).

Tan Cheng Hoe, the head coach of Selangor FC, wants his players to be more focused and prepared for tomorrow's match.

"The Malaysia Cup is a significant competition. We realise that every team aspires to go to the next level. At the same time, our preparations are still in top shape. Even though we just concluded the previous match, training is extremely rigorous,"

"PDRM is one of the teams that is quite difficult for us to win against because they have one of the best defences this season. However, what is important is that we need to take advantage of the opportunities in the match to get the best result,"

"They also have dangerous counter attacks, especially from Bruno Suzuki. So, our defence line needs to be more focused and prepared from their defending to attacking transitions. I believe the team has learned from the previous match," said Tan Cheng Hoe.

He also stated that he is waiting for the final word from the Team Doctor on whether Boakye-Yiadom would be able to play after sustaining an injury in the match against Johor DT last week.

The management of Selangor FC is confident that the team will provide great competition in the first match of the round of 16 tomorrow. Come on, Red Giants!
